EMT Basic Training

There are two different types of EMT training. EMT- b (or EMT basics) is the first method of EMT training. EMT basics include individuals in the healthcare industry who help people who are unable to make it to the hospital or need immediate attention. For example if an elderly person has fallen at home and injure themselves, EMT basics will assist them with their injuries and provided transportation to the nearest hospital in necessary.

EMT training for EMT basics is different that advanced EMT training. EMT basics receive EMT training in the following areas only managing respiratory, trauma, cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment.

EMT basics only receive EMT training to provide basic assistance and are not qualified for any advanced EMT practices. EMT basics can get advanced EMT training if they choose to do so by taking the relevant courses. EMT basics are also known as first responders because they have not received the level of EMT training a paramedic has but they have the skills to assess the patients state and manage the problem if it does not involve more than a blocked airway or minor injury.
