Firefighter jobs include more than just putting out fires. Depending on the town you live in there will be certain obligations your fire dept may be responsible for. A fire dept may have a variety of responsibilities you may not have onced considered as firefighter jobs. However a fire dept represents a commuity and with that representation comes a variety of firefighter jobs.
One of these firefighter jobs is fire inspections. Your fire department may be responsible for making sure all the local businesses and homes are up to code with their smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
Firefighter jobs and responsibilites include this because a fire dept is trained on the practice of checking smoke alarms and checking for out of date extinguishers. Another one of these firefighter jobs is hosting a fire prevention week. Most often during this week a fire dept will travel to local schools and go over fire safety tips and what you can do to prevent fires. Of all the firefighter jobs this one will probably be the most fun because the kids are usually excited to see the familiar faces of the memebers of the fire dept. Othe firefighter jobs may include zoning issues and hydrant placement through out the town. A fire dept is most often considered a fixture in a town, so with that comes certain obligations. So as you can see being part of a fire dept is a lot more than just putting out fires.
